Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about IRLZ.
Getting started
What is IRLZ?
A hand-selected network of creators who want to create together in real life. Members appear on a members-only map in their general area, and other members can find them and reach out through their socials.
Is IRLZ free?
Yes. Membership is free, by application.
Who can join?
Creators (streamers, YouTubers, TikTokers), video editors and camera operators who are 18 or over. A person reviews every application. You don't need to be a professional or have a big following. Talent managers and agencies can't be members.
How do I sign up?
Create an account with your email and a password, then open the link we email you. Then fill in your application: your profile, your home area, your work, verifying at least one of your Twitch, YouTube or Kick accounts by signing in to it, and a short pitch. Each step is saved as you go. Once you send it, a person reviews it, and you can check its status in the app. You show up for other members once you're approved.
Is there an app?
IRLZ works in any modern browser, on your phone or computer. You can also add it to your home screen so it opens like an app. On an iPhone, open IRLZ in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome, tap the ⋮ menu, then Add to Home screen (or Install app). A native app may come later.
Location and privacy
Does IRLZ know where I live?
No. When you share your location, your device snaps it to an area before anything is sent: a neighborhood (about 1 km across), a city (about 5 km) or a region (about 40 km). Only that area is sent and stored, and your pin shows at its center. Your exact position never leaves your device.
Can I choose how precise my location is?
Yes. Pick neighborhood, city or region when you set up your profile, and change it any time in Settings → Privacy. There's no "exact" option: IRLZ is for meeting people in person, so we don't offer one.
How do I hide from the map?
Turn off "Show me on the map" in Settings → Privacy. Your pin comes off the map, but other members still see your general area name, since it's part of your membership. You can still browse the map and use the Nearby list.
What does the area name on my profile mean?
Members see a general place name on your profile, like "Williamsburg, Brooklyn", for the area you chose. It comes from OpenStreetMap, looked up from the center of your area, never your exact position. People who aren't members never see it.
Can people see when I was last online?
Only members, and only if you allow it. "Show my active status" in Settings → Privacy controls whether your profile says things like "Active 5m ago". Turn it off and we delete your last-active time right away.
Who can see my email address?
Nobody but you. Your email is only used to sign in and for account emails, and it's never on your profile.
Using the map
How do I find creators near me?
Open the Map tab. You'll see creators in the area you're looking at. Tap a pin for a quick card, then "View profile" for the full profile. Filter by role, or search usernames and bios.
What's the Nearby list?
It lists the creators around you, closest first. The distances are worked out on your device from your current position, which is never sent to us or saved.
Why does the map say to zoom in?
The map loads the creators in the area you're viewing, up to a limit. When there are more than that, zoom in to see everyone.
How do I contact someone?
Through the socials and links on their profile. IRLZ has no in-app chat on purpose: people already have public identities on Instagram, X, YouTube, Twitch, Kick and TikTok, which makes it easier to check who you're talking to.
What does the live badge mean?
We're building live badges that show when a creator is streaming on Twitch, YouTube or Kick, detected automatically from the accounts on their profile. They aren't switched on yet, so for now nobody shows as live.
Your profile
What can I put on my profile?
A photo, your username, one or more roles, a short bio, up to 10 interests, your socials, up to 5 links, and up to 9 clips of your work.
What are clips?
Videos you've already posted on YouTube (including Shorts), Twitch or Kick that show off your work. Paste up to 9 links: they show as a grid on your profile, and YouTube and Twitch ones play right there. Only your own work counts, so we check each one comes from your account.
Can I have more than one role?
Yes. Pick every role that fits: creator, editor or camera operator.
How do I edit my profile?
Open the Profile tab and tap "Edit profile". You can change everything there, including your username.
Who can see my profile?
Once you're a member, anyone with the link can see your profile card, even without an account, so you can share it like a portfolio. Search engines may list it too. Your area and last active are left off it: only members see those. Until you're approved, your profile isn't public.
Why was my bio or username refused?
We automatically check usernames, bios and links for harmful content before saving them. If the check can't run for a moment, we ask you to try again rather than skip it. We'll also warn you if your bio seems to include a phone number, email or street address, since anyone can read it.
Safety
How do I block someone?
Open their profile and tap Block. You'll disappear from each other's map, Nearby list and profiles while you're signed in, and they aren't told. Unblock people in Settings → Blocked users.
Is blocking airtight?
Not completely. Profiles are public, so someone could still see yours while signed out. If someone makes you feel unsafe, report them too.
How do I report someone?
Open their profile, tap Report, pick a reason and add details if you like. You can block them at the same time. Our team reviews every report and can warn or ban accounts.
How do I meet someone safely?
Meet in a busy public place, tell a friend where you're going, check their socials first, and trust your gut. Our safety guidelines have the full list.
Your account
I forgot my password. What do I do?
On the sign-in page, tap “Forgot your password?” and we'll email you a link to choose a new one. Signed in, you can change it in Settings → Change password.
Can I change my email address?
Not yet. We're working on it.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Delete account and confirm with your password. We delete your sign-in, profile, photos, blocks, and reports made about you, straight away. Reports you made about others are kept without your name, so our team can still act on them. This can't be undone.
Still building
Is IRLZ finished?
No. IRLZ works, but we're still building it. You might run into rough edges, and features will change as we learn what creators need.
What's coming next?
Live badges for Twitch, YouTube and Kick streams are next. After that, we're looking at following other creators and a feed of posts.
How do I send feedback or ask a question?
We'll add a contact address here soon. To report a problem with another user, use Report on their profile.
